We are Christian Boyko and Emmanuelle Plattet, the Canadian and Swiss bicycle duo who pedaled their way from Swizerland to Ukraine to raise public awareness about the Chernobyl disaster, will visit Bethesda, MD, and Madison, WI, May 11 19. We have dedicated our Ukrainian journey to FOCCUS, and the organization is sponsoring our trip to the U.S. so that the American public can meet them and hear their stories. We plan to share what we learned and witnessed from our visits to the five Ukrainian Community Centers FOCCUS supports.
The Activities that are planned:
Saturday, May 12, 2007,2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
We will be guests at a FOCCUS fundraising event where we will talk about their 34 day, 2,800 kilometer bicycle trip from Switzerland to Ukraine.FOCCUS President Norma Berkowitz will also report on current and planned FOCCUS projects. The Embassy of Ukraine has been invited to participate.

"A Ukrainian Spring" fund-raising dinner where we will give a presentation about our experiences during our trip. The dinner will also feature Ukrainian music and an extensive silent auction.

FOCCUS is also hosting a Family Fun Bike Ride on the morning of Saturday May 19, 2007. We will be biking on some of the many great bike paths that are in and around Madison. We want to have a very family friendly atmosphere so we are going to have 10 mile, 20 mile and 30 mile routes. We will be leading the ride.
